Air Pollution

The Pollution Control Department is responsible for the
monitoring of air quality and prevention of air pollution within
the Vale. This is carried out through the implementation of
legislation and both on-going and periodic monitoring throughout
the Vale.
Many of our everyday activities have the potential to pollute
the air, such as fumes from road traffic, fuel-burning heating
devices and industrial emissons.
The quality of our air is important as it can impact upon
peoples well being, and in particular those more vulnerable in
society. Poor air quality can increase the symptoms of people
suffering from asthma, heart and lung disease
