Environmental and Economic Regeneration - Level 5
Application
In 2009, the council’s visible services department celebrated
achieving Level 5 - the highest - of the Green Dragon
Environmental Management Standard® that recognises organisations
for their work in improving the environment. The
council was the first
to have this approved by a United Kingdom Accreditation Service
(UKAS) accredited inspection body - ANI Management
Systems.
Visible
Services maintained the Level 5 award in 2010,
and in 2011, the
entire Environmental and Economic Regeneration Directorate
successfully
achieved the Level 5 award, which was a significant achivement. The
Directorate has continued with its good work and hopes to maintain
level 5 following its annual audit in 2012.
The Directorate of Environmental and Economic Regeneration
comprises a vast portfolio including highway maintenance, waste
management and cleansing, engineering design, parks and
grounds maintenance, tourism, planning and transportation, and has
a wide range of activities which affect the environment.

Report 2010/11.
