Environmental improvements

Cosmeston Lakes country park
A large scale pond and wetland area has been created within the
country park to accommodate surface water drainage flow from the
nearby residential development at Cogan Hall farm. Biodiversity is
encouraged by sympathetic design and planting

Queens Road, Penarth
A derelict site has been transformed into a community garden and
seating area. The site was challenging due to its steep topography.
Timber lattice and brick retaining walls provide for changes in
level. A central mosaic feature is being made as part of the
community involvement in the project

Dipping pond at Cosmeston Lakes country park
The dipping pond at Cosmeston Lakes country park was built to
provide an educational resource and is easily accessible to all.
The boardwalk is constructed in Welsh oak (Forest Stewardship
Council accredited). The posts are recycled plastic to withstand
immersion in water and to provide structural support.
Highway landscaping

The new road link into the Waterfront has been extensively
landscaped. A wild flower grass mix was used to colonise the
embankments and to improve biodiversity
