What is a wormery?
It's a great alternative to
a compost bin and deals with most of your
food leftovers organically. Quite literally, a container full
of worms munch away at food waste matter.
Is it easy?
Yes, very. It just needs a little maintenance and care; it
will be odour free and provide you with organic compost and a
liquid feed.
What can be added?
- raw or cooked fruit and vegetables
- tea bags and coffee grinds
- newspaper and kitchen towels
- egg shells

- autumn leaves
Munch away...
Hungry worms turn your waste into a
liquid feed that will then need to
be diluted. Annually the wormery must
be cleaned, you may then collect organic
compost to add to plants/lawns.
Advantages
Wormeries don’t smell, can be bought in
different sizes and can be used in a very small space - even a
flat. Liquid feed produced is also odourless and can be used on
house plants, window boxes and your garden. Most DIY and
garden centres sell wormeries.
