Bulky household wasteold chair to be collected by council

Household items

We provide a free collection of bulky household items; contact us to arrange a collection. Place your item(s) out kerbside no later than 7am. We can collect up to five household items on one visit, but you must tell us in advance so we can plan vehicle space.

Remember: tradesmen are responsible for disposing of waste they produce when they carry out work; however you are legally responsible for ensuring they do.

We collect:

  • beds and sofas broken bed
  • mattresses
  • tables and chairs
  • wardrobes
  • cookers and dishwashers
  • fridge freezers, tumble dryers and washing machines
  • carpet - must be either bagged in black bags (four bags are the equivalent to one item) or rolled up (two rolls are the equivalent to one item)

Donate where possible

Nearly everything we collect is sent to landfill (since December 2011, the exception is mattresses, which are now recycled). If your items are of good quality you may want to consider donating them to family, friends, neighbours or a local charity/community group instead.

We can't collect:

Toilets Windows
Asbestos Baths
Bricks/rubble Car batteries
Cement Fencing
Doors (internal/external) Kitchen units or worktops
Gates Guttering
Pipes Plaster
Sheds Sinks

You may wish to source skip hire and waste disposal contractors for the above. Or, they can be taken to our recycling centres at Hayes Road Sully or Llandow Trading Estate. Vans and trailers will need a permit to enter the sites; please contact us to arrange this.
