Please contact us should you need help placing out your weekly black bags/recycling. A service for our more senior citizens or those with disabilities.
"Avoid a fine - remember the nine!"
Follow our nine steps to avoid being caught and issued with a fixed penalty notice; bought to you by our enforcement and compliance team. These steps have been put together to help you as Vale residents.
Contact us to arrange your household items collection. Place your item kerbside no later than 7am. We can collect up to five household items on one visit - you must contact us first. Don't forget most items go to landfill so where possible pass to charity, friends or family first. The one exception is mattresses - these are now recycled.
Our kerbside boxes are free, but as an alternative we are now selling blue bags that you can put the same co-mingled category items in every week. They cost £1 (with a concealed weight, velcro flap and can be easily folded away). Information about containers.
Eight different categories of recyclable waste can be placed out in your weekly co-mingled recycling.

Black bags - want to know more?
An estimated 6.7 million tonnes of household food waste ends up rotting in landfill every year. Reduce your food waste and save money by using the council's Kitchen Waste Scheme. Residents of the Vale of Glamorgan are entitled to free kitchen waste recycling bags from the council.
Spreading the message is key; changing our approach and our habits count. We really need our local schools to be involved, teaching children that they should reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.
Our recycling rate is publicly displayed on the WasteDataFlow website. We have put all the available data together for you to see our progress. Remember that it takes some time to collect the information, but we do have the latest figures on this page.
