Recycle for Wales
Our friends at Waste Awareness Wales have produced these short
animated films to help further your understanding about what
happens Wales-wide to some of the materials we recycle. Please view
them and free feel to let us know what you think.

|
Glass Bottles
Wine, beer, soft drinks - whatever your tipple, please
remember to recycle each bottle.
|
|
|
|
Plastic Bottles
As a general rule in the Vale we say recycle all plastics, with
the exception of hard ones (such as garden furniture, plant pots
made of plastics and children's toys - all of these can be reused).
If you have any doubt, leave it out in your co-mingled collection
and let our crews decide for you.

|
|
Cans
Don't forget you can squash these in any way that's safe for you
to do so. This will ensure that you have even more space in
your recycling container.
|
|
|
|
Cartons
Such as Tetra Pak; these have a foil or plastic inner lining and
have to be handling by a specialist. You can now add them into your
kerbside co-mingled weekly collections too in the Vale. You can
also take them to both Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Food Waste
The Vale's contractor is Cowbridge Compost and items are
composted in-vessel on site. The soil enhancer is used on the farm
and is free for you to collect from their trailer Mon - Sat
from 9am - 5pm.
|
|
|
|
Green Waste
Otherwise known as 'garden waste' and mixed with your food waste
to make soil enhancer. The amounts are controlled depending on the
time of year / weather / temperature. The ratio varies so
that the best possible end product is made, meeting
strict Environment Agency controls.

|
Paper
Telephone directories, magazines (envelopes minus gum and
windows) and junk mail are just some items that can be
included. Shredded paper can also be added. We suggest though that
you place it at the base of your box so the wind doesn't blow it
all over the place.

|
Electronics
Both the Atlantic Trading Estate in Barry and the household
Waste Recycling Centre in Llandow accept electrical items for
recycling. The list is endless; small items like hairdryers to
large items like fridges, you can take them all. Please let us know
if you need a free bulky item collection too.
