Q. Is there a kerbside collection for electrical items?
A. We will collect most kitchen
and display equipment as part of the bulky household
waste collection service. Please be advised that there may be a
lengthy waiting time.
Q. What about other items?
A. It's neither cost
effective nor environmentally friendly for us to collect individual
smaller items and small discharge lamps. Please take them to
either Sully or Llandow recycling centres.
Q. How has this initiative come about?
A. This is a relatively
new service introduced following the implementation of the
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (W.E.E.E.) Regulations
2006. The regulations make manufacturers
responsible for funding re-use and recycling schemes.
Q. So why is there a waiting list for
collections?
A. The
manufacturers funding is limited and only covers the
installation of containers at our two recycling centres.
Unfortunately there's no additional money available to fund an
extended kerbside collection for electrical items.
