Reusing waste Romilly infants

Sunflower Valley 2008

Vale Primary School children are working on a unique and special sunflower project, making their eye-catching colourful flowers out of waste destined for the bin!

The flowers will be on display from the end of July 2008 and into August at Art Central. Each flower will contain a special pledge of how its creators are going to care more about the environment.

Have fun!

Our projects ensure youngsters enjoy themselves, are creative and make something useful. The Waste and Arts Development teams work together to ensure pupils learn what we throw away.

The Vale Show

The popular agricultural show takes place in August every year and is a good opportunity for us to both work with young people to reinforce our message.

Xmas on the Pier

Thanks to the creativity of our local primary schools and charity Scope we have been able to decorate Penarth Pier. Artistically we made things destined for the bin and now regularly reuse decorations for each festive season.

Greetings cards recycling

Why not recycle your Christmas card at one of our participating schools? Last year we collected nearly one million cards from various schools within the Vale.

Don't forget you can put your greetings cards in our plastic and cardboard recycling (as long as there's not glue on the card, or additional non card decoration)

Dyffryn Gardens

We have run projects at Easter were everyday items of rubbish like sweet wrappers are reused. The “Eggs” were then used as money collection boxes to collect money for Parkinson’s Awareness Week.

The popular film ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ also inspired us; pupils turned their rubbish into giant sweets! Let us know if your school is working on a project that makes innovative use of waste!
