How NHS Direct can help you

 

When you phone NHS Direct, a nurse will give you confidential advice and information. You can ring for advice if you're feeling ill and you're not sure what to do, or for health information on particular conditions such as diabetes and allergies.

 

NHS Direct can also tell you where to find your nearest doctor, pharmacist, dentist, support group and other health services.

NHS Direct Wales is a bilingual health advice and information service available 24 hours a day, every day. You can call NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 (local rate call from a landline) if you are feeling unwell, or require information on local health services, conditions, treatments or patients rights.

Emergency healthcare

In the case of a medical emergency call 999.

 

Emergency care for the population of the City and County of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot, Bridgend, the western Vale of Glamorgan, southern parts of Powys and eastern parts of Carmarthenshire is provided by the ABM University NHS Trust.

 

The Department is located on four sites, namely the A&E Unit at Morriston Hospital (the busiest in Wales, source: The Trauma Audit and Research Network TARN) the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend, the Minor Injury Casualty Unit at Singleton Hospital, and the 24-hour Local Accident Unit at Neath Port talbot Hospital.
