Children and young people
You'd think young people would be the last ones who'd have to
worry about their fitness, but sadly, this isn't the case for
everyone.
In the most official
recent survey, doctors found 16.6 per cent of boys and 16.7 per
cent of girls aged under ten are obese
Three in ten boys and four in ten girls aged two to 15 are not
doing the amount of physical activity recommended by the chief
medical officer.
On current trends, 22 per cent of girls and 19 per cent of boys
between the ages of two and 15 will be obese by 2010 (source
NHS).
Apart from the health benefits people of all ages get from
exercise, it's also an opportunity to meet up with friends or make
new ones, it can provide a fun break from the stresses of school
and exams, and it can give you a real sense of achievement - you
never know, you might discover a talent you never knew you had.
