Love football? So do we!

Football remains one of the Vale’s most popular sports, with the county having been a hotbed of soccer talent for many years.

Helping to encourage the current generation of boys and girls to continue loving ‘the beautiful game’, no matter what ability they have or level they will eventually play at, is the Council’s football development unit.

Regular football fun centres and courses are held throughout the year and are ideal for young players of all abilities to develop their skills and have fun in a friendly team environment.

Vale Football Development Centre

Since its creation in 2005, the Vale’s Football Development Centre has proven to be a formidable production line of local football talent, with many of its players going on to sign for professional clubs.

The Centre creates a clear and well-structured pathway for talented players aged 8 to 14 to emerge and catch the eye of professional scouts.

Football for Girls

Football for Girls has really kicked off in the Vale now with a lot of new players taking up the game. The co-operative work between the Welsh Football Trust, Vale of Glamorgan Council, local schools, Barry College and local girls clubs has created a great environment where all girls can be involved in football.

Goalkeeping

The Goalkeeper Centre provides the most up-to-date specialist technical programme delivered by professional coaches with extensive experience at youth development.   Regular weekly coaching sessions, holiday camps and one-on-one sessions are available.

Show Racism the Red Card

Showing racism the red cardMany of our football events have been used to promote the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ campaign.  Youngsters are encouraged to play fairly and show consideration for others at all times.
