What we do...

 

The Highway Maintenance Division is reponsible for the maintenance of all adopted highways in the Vale of Glamorgan and associated infrastructure including the highly successful and award winning Alleygates scheme. The Operational Manager Andrew Loosemore leads the Division with three groups to carry out the regulatory functions.

 

Routine Maintenance Team

 

Responsibilities include...

  • Weed control on the adopted highway
  • Traffic Management Act (2004) & New Roads & Street Works Act (1991)

  • Provision of disabled crossings
  • Highway enforcement

Construction Team

 

Responsibilities include...  

  • Construction works Construction works
  • Gully cleansing
  • Highway drainage maintenance
  • Manufacture and install signage/street nameplates
  • Maintain highway road markings and cats eyes
  • Maintain highway bus stops and seats
  • Highway ditching maintenance
  • Provision of a highway winter maintenance service
  • Highway car parks

Street Lighting Team

 

Responsibilities include...  

  • Energy management Street lighting picture
  • Innovative and efficient solutions for future lighting
  • Repairs and maintenance to street lamps      
  • Installation of new street lighting
  • Traffic signal maintenance
  • Maintenance of illuminated street signs and bollards
  • Maintenance of Pelican and Zebra crossing equipment
