Area
Working
The Vale of Glamorgan Local Service Board (LSB) has agreed to
establish three area working groups following a study into the
potential of area working in the Vale. Partners have agreed that
area working should be organised on three geographical areas:
- Barry (Vale of Glamorgan Council to Chair)
- Central and Western Vale (Police to Chair)
- Eastern Vale (Cardiff and Vale UHB to Chair)

The Cardiff and Vale College,
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Vale Centre for Voluntary
Services are also part of the area groups. Common terms of
reference were developed for the area working groups who
met for the first time in September 2011.
The area groups will
take a strategic view of their area and take 3 or 4 key points
linked to the Community Strategy and build an action plan to
address these issues. The LSB will continue to oversee the
work of the three area groups through its Implementation Group.
Area Priorities
Each area group now needs to determine what the key
priorities in the area need a unitied reponse from all partner
organsations in order to achieve value for money, customer
focussed, positive outcomes. The potential priorities being
discussed for each are as follows:
Barry: Alcohol and
Smoking
- Central and Western: Access to services in rural areas
- Eastern: Elderly people
Area Profiles
Area profiles have been created to provide background
comparative information for the area working groups.
