Committee Meetings and Reports
The Planning Committee comprises of 19 Councillors and deals
with applications for planning permission for Council developments
and most mineral and waste facilities.
The Committee meets every month, other than August, at the Civic
Offices, Barry and meetings usually commence at 6.00pm. You may
attend Committee meetings to hear proceedings only and comments
must be made in writing or you may speak directly to a councillor.
People who attend Committee meetings are not allowed to speak out
but representation can, however, be made directly to any
councillor.
All reports on planning applications are available for
inspection by the public. The Committee reports are made
available four working days before the date of the
meeting.
A supplementary update sheet is prepared for committee
addressing any consultee responses and further representations
received after the report was written.
Commenting on planning applications which are to be reported to
Committee.
When comments are submitted in relation to planning applications
which are being reported to Planning Committee, outside of the
statutory consultation period of 21 days, it should be noted that,
those comments may be received too late to be included within the
formal committee report. This is as a consequence of reports
usually being prepared some two weeks before the holding of the
actual Planning Committee Meeting.
In order to ensure that members of the public and other
organisations/bodies with an interest in a particular application
are not disadvantaged the Authority will accept and report
observations received up until 12 p.m. on the day before Committee.
These comments are circulated in the form of a late report to
Committee members on the evening before Committee by Email and are
presented in hard copy form at the actual meeting.
It should be noted that a copy of the full Committee Report
relating to the specific case (for example, a particular planning
application or enforcement report) will be available here as
part of the Committee agenda four working days before the meeting
itself. You can also contact the Councils Committee Services Group
in order to request a hard copy of the report (although there will
be charge for this document).
Please Note: This supersedes the previous
arrangements when late observations and representations could be
submitted up until 12 p.m. on the day of Planning Committee.
