Approved Development Brief

The Council has prepared and approved the above development
brief as part of the Unitary Development Plan process. The brief
will guide future development of the site and will be a significant
material consideration in the determination of any forthcoming
planning application.
The brief describes the planning, design and transport
requirements for the site along with any constraints. It is
essential that the development of this site makes an effective and
positive contribution to the social, economic and environmental
wellbeing of the local community, which the brief seeks to
ensure.
A 6-week consultation took place on the draft development brief
between Monday 31st July 2006 and Friday 8th September 2006. The
Council received a significant number of comments and some changes
have subsequently been made to the development brief.

Cowbridge Garden Centre Development Brief
The Council has approved a Development
Brief for the site of Hurran's Garden Centre in Cowbridge. The
brief has been prepared to assist all relevant parties with an
interest in the future of the site. The council, through the
Development Brief, seeks to promote the significant opportunities
that may arise in any future redevelopment of this important brown
field site and outline some of the constraints relating to the site
in order to maximise the quality of the final development
achieved.
The draft Development Brief was the subject of a public
consultation exercise carried out in October 2004. Several
representations were received and taken into account in the final
draft of the Development Brief, which has now been approved by
Council for the purposes of Development Control.
The Council has established a procedure for the production,
reporting, consultation and adoption of Site Development Briefs
which can be downloaded below.
