Carers' Week
Carers' Week takes place from 18-24 June 2012. To celebrate and
support the work of carers, we have a special event on
Tuesday 19 June 2012 at Dyffryn Gardens. For
more details, view our Carers'
Day poster. This is a ticket only event. If you require
disabled parking, please state this when obtaining a ticket as
spaces are limited. To register to attend, please contact the

Carers' Training
Training courses are held throughout the year in areas such as
manual handling, stress management, first aid and healthy eating.

Looking after me course
A six-week self-management course for carers is also run through
the expert patient programme for carers called "looking
after me". The course teaches carers how to deal with
stress, pain, tiredness etc. For more information please follow

Carers' forum
A forum is held for people to air their views about being a
carer in the Vale and contribute to service and policy development.
It meets quarterly in Barry YMCA/Hub. To register as a member of
the forum or for more information on forum meetings, please

Carers' newsletter
A quarterly newsletter is available that informs carers of new
developments nationally and in the area. The next edition is due
out at the end of May 2012.
