Childcare Sufficiency Assessment Review 2011-2012

The Vale of Glamorgan Council carried out its second full Childcare Sufficiency

Assessment (CSA) in 2010 to meet the duties under the Childcare Act 2006. This required every

local authority to ensure there is sufficient childcare to enable parents to work or undertake

education or training in order to make the transition to work.

A full sufficiency assessment is required every three years with annual updates to set out

how local authorities are responding to the findings of their childcare sufficiency

assessments and working to meet the sufficiency duty.

The CSA Review 2011-2012 was published in March 2012 and is available below, which includes an updated Action Plan:

An additoinal duty was placed on local authorities, to report on the additional childcare and workforce requirements to support the Flying Start expansion. This was published in March 2012 and is available below:

Family Support Strategy

The Vale of Glamorgan Children & Young People’s Partnership (CYPP) has developed a Family Support Strategy to incorporate a wide range of support available to parents, carers, children and young people. This Strategy aims to bring together key actions for parents, parenting services, parenting practitioners and other professionals who work with parents by co-ordinating our efforts to support children, young people and their families.
