Road Safety
The Road Safety Department deals with the following
services:
School Crossing Patrol Service
The unit administers a School Crossing Patrol service, provided
in the morning and afternoon outside the majority of the Vale of
Glamorgan's schools. Any queries relating to this service should be
directed to the Road Safety Officer - kstokes@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
Road Safety Education
The Road Safety Unit is also responsible for implementing
matters relating to road safety education, and undertakes work in
schools in the Vale. Any queries regarding pedestrian or cycle
training should in the first instance be directed to the Senior
Road Safety Officer.
Kerbcraft Child Pedestrian Training
The Child Pedestrian practical roadside instruction, for 5-7
year old pupils, with help from Volunteer Training Co-ordinator is
responsible for delivering Kerbcraft, a national child pedestrian
training scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. The
scheme develops responsible behaviour and road safety

Safe Routes to School
Finally, the road safety unit is also involved in transport
grant submissions, particularly in respect of Safe Routes to
School. Again queries regarding Safe Routes to schools schemes
should be directed to the Senior Road Safety Officer.
