Do you live or work within the Vale of Glamorgan?
South Wales Police are coordinating BIKESAFE CYMRU in
association with the Vale of Glamorgan Road Safety Section with the
objective of reducing motorcycle accidents on and around the roads
within the Vale and further afield in South Wales.
These workshops are available to any motorcyclist either
residing or working within the Vale of Glamorgan at a subsidised
cost of £20 per person for the weekend – the normal cost is
£100
The cost includes the issue of a pack that contains current
‘Roadcraft’ and ‘Highway Code’ publications as well as lunch and
refreshments for both days.
The workshops, run by Police, ex Police and RoSPA Gold riders,
are a mix of theory and practical and will include on-road
assessment rides, information videos, motorcycle related first aid
and other relevant issues. The workshops are designed to enhance
the skills of all riders who have already passed their tests, and
are particularly suitable for those that may be returning to biking
after a period of absence and sports bike riders.
It will be very practical with ‘hands on’ experience. In
addition there will be some indoor activities and ample opportunity
to take part in observed rides on good biking roads.
The Workshops are currently planned for
Barry Fire Station, Port Road, Barry
Workshop will commence promptly at 9.00am each day and finish no
later than 5.00pm.
Payment must be received by the Vale of Glamorgan Road Safety
Department prior to the workshop. Workshops will not be cancelled
due to bad weather.
It is envisaged that you will be covering approximately 100
miles per day. Therefore, sufficient fuel will be needed prior to
arriving each day. All bikes must be in a roadworthy condition.
Current copies of the Highway Code and Motorcycle Roadcraft
publications will be issued at the workshops.
The following documentation will be required upon arrival at the
workshop: full driving licence, insurance and MOT certificate.
Photocopies are not acceptable. Unfortunately, if documentation is
not made available on the day, you will not be eligible to
participate.
These workshops will be popular. There is a maximum of 10 riders
per course. Bookings will be taken on a ‘first come first served’
