Support for Parents
Being a parent is one of the hardest and most
challenging jobs around but it can also be the most
rewarding.
It's not easy and the Vale of Glamorgan YOS recognises the
challenges faced by parents as well as the important role that they
play in supporting their young people achieve in today's world.
The YOS provides a range of services for
parents of teenagers that are within the Youth Justice System or
those families receiving support through the Prevention Team. We
also work with partnership agencies to ensure that parenting
support can be accessed across the county from a variety of
different organisations.
Currently the Handling Teenage Behaviour
programme for parents is being run. This is a two hour
per week - eight week programme that explores the challenges that
parents face during the adolescence period and looks at strategies
for overcoming some of the difficulties. It looks at building
parenting confidence and communication with your teenager.
We offer our parents a monthly ‘Drop In’ clinic which is staffed
by our Parenting Co-Ordinator where you can discuss any queries or
concerns you may have. The Drop In runs at 6pm on the first
Wednesday of every month.
