Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) Additional Licensing

 

Consultation

The Council would like residents' and stakeholders' views on its plans to implement an Additional HMO Licensing Scheme in the Castleland Renewal Area.

 

The consultation document explains the Council’s plans, relevant legislation, factors affecting the decision to designate the Castleland Renewal Area for Additional HMO licensing, how the scheme will work in practice and the benefits of operating such a scheme. View the Additional HMO licensing document.

 

The Draft HMO Licensing Enforcement Plan contains full details of how the Council intends to implement the scheme and how it will and use the discretionary powers of the Housing Act (2004) in relation to HMO licensing and health and safety hazards. The plan also includes details of the proposed licence conditions and standards.

The Council would like comments from all affected stakeholders including tenants, local residents and businesses, landlords and letting agents.

Residents that live in the Castleland Renewal Area (including tenants and owner occupiers) as well as landlords, managing agents, resident groups, businesses and other organisations who have an interest in Houses in multiple occupation can have their say in the decision by completing this questionnaire.

 

The consultation period runs from 4 January 2012 to 14 March 2012.
