Upper Holton Road Regeneration
The Consultation
The Council's past experience shows that
the regeneration of an area can be greatly helped by
investing money in improving the structure of properties in
the area. This approach is currently being applied in the
residential parts of the Castleland Renewal Area (examples of this
can be seen in Greenwood Street and Merthyr Street) and so the
Council is now considering offering a similar scheme
to all property owners on Upper Holton Road.
To help make this decision the Council would
like your opinion on the two possible assistance schemes
that are being considered.
Both schemes will offer financial assistance
to help improve shop fronts, repair or replace windows and
undertake structural improvements. Other works could include
the partial rebuild of a poorly converted residential front. The
main difference between the two is that one would offer the money
for improvements to property owners as a grant, the other as a
loan. More
information is available here.
Have your say in which scheme the Council
takes forward
here.
The consultation period runs from 4
January 2012 to 14
March 2012.
Drop-in-sessions are to be held in the Renewal
Area office at 198 Holton Road, Barry on the following dates:
- Wednesday
18 January 2012
- Thursday 26 January 2012
- Tuesday 7 February
2012.
The offices will be open between 2pm
and 6pm on each of these days when officers will be
available to discuss the project in detail.

Expressions of Interest
At present there is no funding for this
scheme. To ensure any bids for funding are successful, the
Council will need to demonstrate an interest in the scheme. If
you would like to register your interest in the scheme please email
privatesectorhousingonevale@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk
sending us your details, including the address(es) of properties in
Holton Road. Registering an interest doesn’t commit you to the
scheme. This information will only be used to gauge interest
in the proposed scheme and to contact you if the scheme goes
ahead.
