Vale on the Road brings residents’ issues to the forefront

Issues were raised, suggestions taken and healthy debate was encouraged as the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s annual Vale on the Road event once again visited locations around the county, concluding on 25 September with a stop in Penarth.

The series of surgery-style events gives residents from across the Vale the opportunity to discuss the issues that are most important to them. This time the road show stopped at Barry, Llantwit Major and Penarth.

The events are becoming increasingly popular and this year saw over 200 people taking up the chance to meet council officials and discuss their vision for the Vale’s future.

Residents put a number of burning questions to officers and Cabinet Members on subjects ranging from planning developments, visible services, education, the Vale’s economy and social care.

Council Leader, Cllr Gordon Kemp, said: "We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities to meet with local residents and discuss issues of importance to them - Vale on the Road was created for just that purpose. We’ve already received some very positive feedback and I hope that those who attended the events throughout the Vale felt that they came away reassured and informed. Thanks to all who took the time to visit us. We’ll see you again next year."
