Departmental Service Plans
Service plans are an important part of the corporate planning
process. Their purpose is to provide a clear statement about what
each Council service is striving to achieve and to set out how
resources are to be used to that effect. They are the key
management tool for translating the Council's overall aims and
objectives into service delivery and linking them into the
Council's financial planning process. Service Plans link upwards
into the Council's corporate plan and downwards into team and
individual targets and staff appraisals. Service Plans are produced
annually and there are 19 in total covering all Council
services.
The Service Plans explain the actions that each service area
will undertake in order to help realise the Council's corporate
aims and objectives, and each of these actions will be accompanied
by identified performance indicators to help the Council measure
each service area's performance. Service Plans are regularly
monitored to ensure that all actions and targets are being
delivered on time.
