There are four divisions within the Directorate covering the
following areas:
School Improvement
The service objectives are:
- To facilitate and support the raising of standards for all
pupils
- To provide advice, guidance, challenge and support so that
schools maintain the provision of quality learning experiences for
all pupils.

Access and Inclusion
The service objectives are:
- To ensure an appropriate education for age, ability, aptitude
and any special educational needs.
- To offset disadvantage and maximise potential.
- To administer the statutory assessment and review process
efficiently.
- To maximise attendance and minimise school exclusions.
- Prudently manage out of county placements & SEN
Budget.
- To ensure the educational needs of Looked After Children are
met and to maximise educational attainment.

Strategic Planning and Performance
Our service objectives are:
- To ensure the effective management of resources.
- To manage the supply and demand for school places
- To ensure the effective delivery of services to schools
- To improve the management proficiency within the Education
Department.

Lifelong Learning
The service objectives are:
- To work in partnership with other services and organisations to
provide quality learning opportunities and information resources
that meet the needs of individuals and groups.
- To widen participation in lifelong learning.
- To develop clear progression routes from learning that enhance
further learning and employment opportunities.
- To promote higher standards of literacy, numeracy and
information skills in communities throughout the Vale of Glamorgan
in order to encourage and enable enterprise, economic regeneration
and prosperity.
