The Mayor's Charities 2011 - 2012

 

Councillor John Clifford has chosen to support three charities during his year in office  –  Myeloma UK; Action for Children and Llamau

 

Myeloma UK

Myeloma UK informs and supports people affected by myeloma, and helps improve treatment and standards of care through research, education, campaigning and raising awareness.  Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma and its related disorders.

Action for Children

Action for Children operates over 50 projects across Wales, supporting over 14,200 vulnerable and neglected children, young people and their families.  Action for children is a leading provider of family and community centres, children's services in rural areas, services for disabled children and their families and services for young people leaving care.

Llamau

Llamau supports young people and vulnerable women facing homelessness, who may have experienced poverty, abuse and discrimination and have significant health and education needs.  Their over-riding goal is to see young people and women move on to independent lives as valued members of their communities.

Charity Coffee Mornings

The Mayor’s Office organise Charity Coffee Mornings on behalf of the Mayor for local charities. They are held fortnightly between September and May.
