CAPITAL MONITORING FOR THE PERIOD
1ST APRIL 2007 TO 31st MAY 2007
Purpose of Report
1.
To advise Cabinet of the progress on the 2007/08
Capital Programme for the period 1st April 2007 to
31st May 2007 and where necessary to request changes to
the programme.
Background
2.
Council on the 14th February 2007, minute number 823,
approved the proposed Capital Programme for 2007/08.
Relevant Issues and Options
3.
Appendix 1 details financial progress on the Capital Programme as
at 31st May 2007.
Director of Learning and Development
4. The Authority
has received a capital Early Years grant of £175,000 for the
2007-08 financial year from the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG).
The purpose of the grant is to develop the outdoor play elements of
early years learning across schools with early years provision. It
is therefore requested that the capital programme is increased
accordingly. This has not been reflected in
Appendix 1 (PDF).
Director of Environmental and Economic Regeneration
5. A Road
Maintenance Grant in the sum of £582,000 has been awarded to the
Council from WAG. The money is to be used to resurface the
Authority’s highway network. It is therefore requested that the
capital programme is increased accordingly. This has not been
reflected in
Appendix 1 (PDF).
6.
Appendix 2 (PDF) provides non-financial information on
capital schemes with a budget of over £100,000. Where a
budget shown in Appendix 1 is more than £100,000 but is made up of
several schemes that individually are less than £100,000, the
scheme is not included in
Appendix 2 (PDF).

Scrutiny Committee will receive a monitoring report on their
respective areas. This report does not require Ward Member

RECOMMENDATIONS
(i) That Cabinet approve the
following increase in the 2007/08 Capital Programme.

Early Years Grant - increase the budget by £175,000. The
increase being funded by WAG.

Road Maintenance Grant – increase the budget by £582,000. The
increase being funded by WAG.
Reasons for Recommendations
(i) To allow schemes to be
undertaken in this financial year.
