“LOCAL VISION: PREPARING COMMUNITY STRATEGIES” – WELSH
ASSEMBLY GOVERNMENT DRAFT GUIDANCE
Purpose of Report
1. To apprise
Cabinet of WAG’s draft guidance on preparing Community Strategies
and agree the Council’s response.
Background
2. WAG outlined its
agenda for the continuation of the Making the Connections
agenda in the document “A Shared Responsibility”. A core part
of that agenda is the development of Community Strategies within
the new context of Local Service Boards and Local Service
Agreements. Draft guidance in this respect has been published
for consultation, and this guidance will replace the existing
guidance issued in 2001.

3. The consultation
draft asks a number of questions about the new guidance. The
guidance itself is attached as
Appendix A and the Council’s proposed response as
Appendix B.

Plan includes as an action “Review with partners the Community
Strategy in the light of revised guidance from WAG” (CL14).
The review will be done in the light of the attached guidance, when
finalised.

for executive decision by the Cabinet.

report affects all wards, and individual Member consultation is
therefore not appropriate.

RECOMMENDATIONS
1. That Cabinet
considers and endorses the Council’s response to WAG’s draft
guidance on preparing Community Strategies.
