Summer Examination Results

Purpose of the Report

1.             To advise Scrutiny Committee [Lifelong Learning] of the preliminary WJEC results for Vale Schools in the summer examinations.

Recommendations

Scrutiny Committee Members are invited to:-

1.             Note the achievement of Vale pupils, schools and staff.

2.             Congratulate the schools.

3.             Request a further more detailed report, once the results are complete and validated.

Reasons for the Recommendations

1.             To ensure Members are informed.

2.             To congratulate schools.

3.             To receive a further report.

Background

2.             At the last meeting of the Committee, Members requested a report outlining the summer examination results.  At that time, it was explained that the results would be incomplete, as they would only include the WJEC [Welsh Joint Education Committee] data. It was also explained that the results would not be the final position pending conclusion of challenge and appeals processes.  However, it was considered that the report would be of value to the Committee.
