Paying your Council Tax

There are several ways you can pay your Council Tax.

24-hour Automated Payments

On-Line Payments

• On-Line - Pay your Council Tax online here

Direct Debit

Payment may be made by Direct Debit from your bank or building society account.

• On-line - Complete a Direct Debit online here
• By Phone - Complete a DD on the phone - ring 01446 709564
• Download - You can download a Direct Debit form
• In writing - Director of Finance PO Box 49, Barry CF63 4YN.

Please complete a Direct Debit online if you have changed bank account details

There are several other ways you can pay your Council Tax.

Council Cash Office

Payment may be made at the following Council Cash Office free of charge using the swipe card provided

• Barry   Civic Offices Holton Road Mon - Thurs 8:45am - 4:30pm & Friday 8:45am - 4:00pm

Post Offices

Payment may be made at local Post Offices during normal business hours, free of charge, using the swipe card provided. Local post offices can be found at:

At Paypoint or Payzone

By Post

These should be addressed to the Director of Finance I.C.T. & Property, P.O. Box 49, Barry, CF63 4YN. Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to 'The Vale of Glamorgan Council', and crossed. They should not be addressed to an individual Officer.Please ensure that your Council Tax Account Number is written on the back of your cheque.

Bank Payments

It should be Co-operative Bank Plc, 16-17 High Street, Cardiff, CF10 1AX (Sort Code 08-90-03) quoting the Council's Account No. 61007220. Please ensure that you quote your Council Tax account number.

Master / Visa / Switch / Solo / Deltacard

Payment can be accepted using these cards, yearly or monthly by phone Tel 01446 709564 or at the Council Civic Offices, Holton Road, Barry.

Problems with Payment

If you have difficulty in paying your Council Tax an arrangement can be made with you.

Council Tax Remission

It is possible to apply to the Council for remission of the Council Tax (i.e.flooding). The Council requires reasons why you should be supported having regard the interests of other Council Tax payers in its area. Financial Information and any other supporting letters/information is required to make a consideration. The application form is below.
