The Council is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and providing equal access to our job opportunities, our services and facilities for everyone in the community.

We have formally adopted the social model of disability which states that the social exclusion experienced by many disabled people is not the inevitable result of their impairments or medical conditions, but stems from attitudinal or environmental barriers.

We want to take away those barriers and make our services and information accessible to all. We are seeking to amend or remove any policies, practices or procedures that disadvantage disabled people.  We can only achieve these goals with the involvement of disabled people. If you wish to tell us about the services we provide and how we can improve access for you, please contact us to let us know.
