Disabled Service Users
We recognise that disability occurs
because barriers prevent and hinder people with impairments from
taking a full part in the community. We will strive to break down
these barriers by making reasonable adjustments to the way we
deliver our services, to ensure that disabled service users have
equal access to our services.
If you require reasonable adjustments in order
to access a service, contact
us and tell us what you require. Many facilities are already
readily available such as induction loops at all our major
reception areas, alternative format documents provided on request,
portable loops for meetings, etc. When you contact us simply tell
us what you need to access the service and we'll do our best to
oblige.
If you have other difficulties such
as putting out your waste, please contact
us and we will do our best to assist you.
An access audit has been carried out on all of
our buildings (including schools) that are open to the public,
to identify any physical barriers. Access work is being
carried out on these buildings on a ‘twin track’ approach, both
reacting to public feedback and pro-actively.
Buildings managers have received training on
providing accessible services, including making arrangements when
physical access is limited. Guidelines on improving access through
general maintenance work and good building management have also
been developed.
If you are disabled and experience difficulties accessing
our buildings and services then please contact our
property section to let us know. Formal complaints or
compliments should be lodged separately.
ABCD Cymru work with
black and minority ethnic disabled children and young people (aged
0-25 years), and their families. They offer a variety of
services, which include a Social Care, Health and Education
assessment and supported referral to relevant agencies. They
also facilitate Information Sharing Sessions where families are
given information about other agencies who offer services relevant
to them, and run play events and trips for families to attend
and to meet for mutual support.
