DigiTV / Looking Local
Vale residents can now access Vale of Glamorgan Council
services through Digi-TV using their Freeview boxes, if they’re
connected to a broadband internet line, Sky, Virgin Media
(previously Telewest/NTL) or a mobile phone.
This means that even those who don’t have access to the Internet
at home, can now access services similar to those available on the
Vale of Glamorgan Council website.
Residents using the new service can request council services,
report problems, check local and national travel information, make
an appointment with their doctor and view jobs through Job Centre
Plus.
Residents can now also view the council's Twitter feed,
which provides short updates on all our services.
Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Gordon Kemp, said: "We
want to make our services as accessible as possible. Many services
can be requested using our website, meaning that residents can log
a request or report a problem when it suits them, whatever the time
or day of the week. We wanted to offer a similar service to those
who do not have access to the Internet, which is where DigiTV comes
in. "
The service is called 'Looking Local' and is a Welsh Assembly
Government funded project.
