Film Locations
The Vale of Glamorgan Council provides a selection of film locations and many film crews have used the area in their productions.
Locations include:
Penarth Pier
- Victorian pier
Barry Island
- small, traditional seaside resort
Dyffryn House and Gardens
- An outstanding Grade 1 listed Edwardian garden. Formal lawns; fountains and pools; seasonal beds; feature garden rooms enclosed by yew hedges and walls, including the Pompeian, Paved Court and Theatre Gardens. The late Victorian mansion house is not fully restored, but areas are available, and have been used, for filming
Porthkerry Park
- a 220 acre country park of woods and meadowland, overlooking the Bristol Channel, with impressive Victorian viaduct
Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
- 90 hectares of unspoilt lakes, woodlands and meadows
Cosmeston Medieval Village
- set in Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, a reconstructed 14th Century village, built on an original medieval village site, consisting of medieval buildings, gardens and rare animal breeds
Coastline
- beaches and dramatic cliffs
Parks
- a range of town parks, including the Victorian style Victoria Park, complete with bandstand
Dock Office
and the
Town Hall, Barry
- imposing Victorian civic buildings. Dock office has a magnificent staircase and grand Victorian boardroom.
Schools
– modern and Victorian
Football Stadium - Complete with athletics track and two covered stands
