Still time to enter the 2008 LifeStyle Porthkerry
Plod
Local and visiting runners will be under starter’s orders on
Sunday, 27 April, for the annual Porthkerry Plod.
Set in the stunning setting of Porthkerry Country Park in Barry,
the five-mile multi-terrain event covers a course incorporating
fields, roads, woodland and coastal paths.
Now in its third year, the event is sponsored by LifeStyle
Health and Fitness, which is based at the Vale of Glamorgan Council
leisure centres at Barry, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Penarth,
and organised in association with Penarth and Dinas Runners.
Potential entrants are urged to sign up as soon as possible,
with a closing date of 25 April. Entry is just £6 for LifeStyle and
affiliated members or £7 for unaffiliated members. Proceeds from
the Plod will be given to a chosen charity at a later date.
LifeStyle operations manager Jon Rogers said: “The team is happy
to assist anyone, whatever their training goals. We urge customers
to have a go and challenge themselves by entering the 2008
LifeStyle Portkerry Plod.”
Seona Currie, from Penarth and Dinas Runners, said: “Previous
Porthkerry Plods have earned excellent reviews and entries are
already looking healthy for this year. I’m delighted that some of
the running clubs are really taking an interest, and a couple have
the Plod on their club championship lists, which is an excellent
accolade.”
