Donate your old rugby kit this Christmas

Published 08 December 2011

Youngsters lucky enough to be given new rugby kit this Christmas are asked to donate any old unwanted kit to underprivileged children from across the world.

Rugby legend Graham Price collects donated rugby shirtsThe LV=SOS Kit Aid project has been supported by the WRU for the last four years, resulting in £2m worth of recycled kit being sent to children across the UK and to 19 countries in Africa and Eastern Europe.

A mountain of kit was collected earlier this month from the Millennium Stadium by rugby legend Graham Price, who is the ambassador for LV=SOS Kit Aid in Wales, and further kit donations are always welcomed.

The former Pontypool, Wales and Lions front rower said: “This is a wonderful project and I’m proud and honoured to support the chance to spread rugby to youngsters from emerging nations so that they too can have an opportunity to take part in our great game.”

Matt Silva, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s rugby development officer, is also supporting Kit Aid and said: “If you receive some shiny new kit in your Christmas stocking this year then Kit Aid would be extremely grateful to be given any old rugby kit that you have outgrown.”
