Council seeks volunteers for ‘Home Borrower Service’

The Vale council is looking for volunteers in the Cowbridge area to help with its new ‘Home Borrower Service’, which aims to ensure that people who find it difficult to get to a council library still have access to all the books they want.

Community Outreach Officer for the Vale of Glamorgan Council libraries, Andrea Griffiths, will be at Cowbridge Library on Tuesday 28 June between 9.30am and 5.00pm, to answer questions from anyone interested in volunteering for the Home Borrower Service.

Andrea said: "This is a new service being rolled out throughout the Vale of Glamorgan after being successfully piloted in the Llantwit Major area and there are already many keen readers in the Cowbridge area waiting to be paired with suitable volunteers.

"We need friendly and reliable people to help deliver books to people who have difficulty getting out and about. Volunteers would only be committing to a couple of hours a month. Training will be given and mileage paid. This is an ideal volunteering opportunity for anyone who likes reading and chatting about books."
