Improvements announced to the ‘Ash Path’ in Dinas Powys
Published 08 February 2012
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has confirmed that it will be
erecting a fence along the route of the Ash Path (a footpath also
known as Public Right of Way 25, St Andrews Major) that runs from
Murch Road at Dinas Powys to Sully Road at Penarth.
The 1.2m high traditional metal fence is being
erected to safeguard users of the footpath from livestock on the
field through which the footpath passes.
The works to erect the fence will be completed
during the Easter holidays and follow the positive conclusion of
discussions with the landowner.
Councillor Tony Hampton, Cabinet member for
education and lifelong learning said: "I am delighted the fence
will be erected this Easter. The Ash Path is recognised as an
important link for the local communities, especially as it is
regularly used by school children attending St Cyres Comprehensive
School and will continue to be an important link when the new
Penarth Learning Community is opened (subject to planning
permission) in October 2014."
