Swimming lessons for babies and toddlers at Vale leisure
centres
Published 14 February 2012
Bookings are now being taken for new ‘Adult and Child’ swimming
lessons at the leisure centres in Barry and Penarth, in which
children as young as four-months-old can take to the water.
The fun new classes for babies and toddlers will give them
an excellent introduction to the water, helping to give them the
confidence to make a smooth transition into mainstream swimming
lessons when they are old enough.
The classes at Penarth Leisure Centre will
take place every Monday afternoon from 27th February,
with a class between 2pm and 2:30pm for children aged 4 months up
to 18 months, and a toddlers class between 2:30pm and 3pm for
youngsters aged 18 months to three years old.
Friday 2nd March will see the start
of the weekly classes at Barry Leisure Centre. There will be a
class every Friday between 2pm and 2:30pm for children aged 4
months up to 18 months, followed by a class between 2:30pm and 3pm
for youngsters aged 18 months to three years old.
Classes are being held during school term time
blocks and will cost £4.40 per half hour class. Spaces are limited
so please book in advance to avoid disappointment. If you miss out
on the first week of lessons, don’t worry as you can still book to
join the course in a later week.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Cabinet Member
for Leisure and Tourism, Cllr Anthony Ernest said: “These new
classes are an excellent addition to our programme of swimming
lessons. In the Vale of Glamorgan you now have lessons for all
ages, including adults. Swimming is a really fun activity to enjoy
with your children and I hope that these ‘Adult and Child’ classes
will make a big splash.”
