The council collected Christmas trees from across the Vale from
9 to 14 January, with residents able to put their trees out for
free collection with their refuse and recycling.
Cabinet member for visible and building services, Councillor
Geoffrey Cox, visited Cowbridge Compost to see the recycled trees,
he said: "I am very pleased with the efforts made by residents to
use our free Christmas tree collection service. This together with
our food waste and co-mingled recycling is making a significant
difference to our environment.
"I would urge everyone to include increased recycling in their
New Year's resolutions and divert as much as possible from our
black bag waste collection. It is worth looking at the full, latest
list of what can be recycled, which is on the council's
website."
As a Vale of Glamorgan resident who recycles kitchen and garden
waste Cowbridge Compost Ltd are delighted to offer you something in
return - free compost. Visit our
compost pages to find out more.
Vale residents are reminded that as spring approaches the
alternate week garden waste collections start from 30 March 2012.
Meanwhile residents can continue to ‘ring and request’ a
collection.
