exhibition

A group of artists has been awarded £2,500 towards
mounting an exhibition at the National Eisteddfod in the Vale of
Glamorgan this year.
The Vale of
Glamorgan Council’s cabinet approved the sum to go towards the Vale
of Glamorgan Artists’ (VoGA) show at the week-long cultural event
in Llandow, due to take place in August.
Based around the poem Y Lliaws sy’n Llosgi/The Multitude that is
Burning, by Welsh poet Menna Elfyn, the exhibition will showcase
the work of 17 professional artists based in the Vale of
Glamorgan.
VoGA's project to produce new works for the exhibition will
involve AS level art and graphic design students from Llantwit
Major Comprehensive School and will professionally mentor young
people in developing arts skills alongside professional
artists.
The exhibition proposed by VoGA will feature the work of
professional artists alongside that of young people in the
Eisteddfod arts space, Y Lle Celf.
Cabinet member for tourism and leisure, Councillor Anthony
Ernest, said: "The Vale of Glamorgan Council is delighted to be
supporting this exhibition at this important event on the Welsh
cultural calendar.
"Over the years, VoGA have provided the community with
professional exhibitions and community arts workshops. They are a
valued part of our cultural landscape."
