Art exhibition comes to Wales to mark Holocaust Memorial
Day
Published 16 January 2012
An exhibition by two war and conflict artists will open
for the first time in Wales to mark Holocaust Memorial
Day
The exhibition,
called Blue Line, offers the chance to see the dramatic and moving
work of Polish artist Maciej Hoffman, whose paintings will be shown
alongside the work of Welsh artist, Nicola Tucker, which
sensitively examines issues around the theme of holocaust.
Describing the exhibition, Vale of Glamorgan Council arts
development officer, Tracey Harding, said: "We are for the fifth
year commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day which is held annually on
January 27.
"Hoffman and Tucker’s work complement each other. Tucker’s
striking and poignant messages are told subtly through her
sculptural installations, whereas Hoffman’s large scale canvases
immediately impact on the viewer; it is definitely an exhibition to
visit."
‘Blue Line’ comes for the first time to Barry’s Art Central
gallery from a series of conflict and war art exhibitions across
Southern Poland.
The tour will continue in London during the summer of 2012,
before it moves to Berlin.
The ‘Blue Line’ exhibition is the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s
Holocaust Memorial Day event for 2012 and its Art Central gallery,
Town Hall, King Square, Barry will host the exhibition, which will
be open to the public from January 24 to February 25, between
Tuesday and Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.
Both artists will give a guided tour of the exhibition at Art
Central on Wednesday 25 January at 6.30pm.
