House to house canvassing to take place in the Vale of
Glamorgan
Published on this website 04 September 2012
Householders in the Vale of Glamorgan will be visited by
house-to-house canvassers working to update the electoral register
in time for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections on 15
November.
The canvassers, working on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan
Council, will be calling at properties from Saturday 15 September
to Sunday 30 September 2012.
Vale council electoral registration officer, Rebecca Light,
said: “We’d like to let Vale residents know our canvassers will be
soon working in the area, especially as there have been reports of
criminals posing as canvassers to steal personal information in
other areas of Wales.
“Our canvassers will only ask for the names of people, over the
age of 16, who are permanently resident at houses that have not
returned the annual canvass form. Canvassers may also ask residents
for their nationality and maybe date of birth if they are 16 or 17.
They will not ask for further personal information such as national
insurance numbers.
“If anyone has any concerns about a canvasser please call the
council’s contact centre on 01446 700111.”
