First birthday for Western Vale Day Centre
A day care service in the Vale of Glamorgan has celebrated its
first birthday with a special lunch for clients and staff.
The Red Cross Western Vale Day Care Service is currently based
in the Gathering Place in St Athan but a new centre is being built
and is scheduled to open in November.
The Vale Council has worked with the British Red Cross and St
Athan Methodist Church to provide day care facilities for older,
frail and EMI clients in a homely, comfortable and friendly
setting.
Activities in the user led centre include arts and crafts,
quizzes, gardening, hairdressing and reminiscence sessions.
Previously delivered from a local care home, meals are freshly
cooked in the centre by a trained chef.
In addition to the lunch, there was a short service led by the
minister of the local Methodist Church and competitions for the
best Easter bonnets and cards,
