Prestigious award for Vale's Visible Crew initiative
A Vale of Glamorgan Council environmental initiative has been
recognised in a prestigious Keep Wales Tidy award scheme.
The annual awards
acknowledge the efforts of groups and individuals to clean up their
local area. The Visible Crew project picked up its award in the
public sector category.
Visible Crew consists of a mobile team who work throughout the
Vale to remove graffiti, litter pick and carry out ground clearance
work. It brings together representatives from the youth offending
service, probation service, police, fire service and the council’s
enforcement team who work in partnership with local communities to
improve the local environment.
Launched earlier this year, the initiative has helped to
significantly improve cleanliness and community safety in the
county.
Head of Visible Services Miles Punter is delighted that the
Visible Crew has been recognised at a national level. He said: “My
special thanks to the whole team for all their hard work."
The award was presented by Jane Davidson, Welsh Assembly
Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing, to Paula
Barnett and Mark Robertson, members of the Youth Offending Team,
and the council's senior enforcement officer, Denny White.
