Retiring Vale mayor's cheques for charity
Following fundraising efforts in his year of office, retiring
Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Cllr Nic Hodges has presented cheques to
two local charities.
Cllr Hodges' two nominated charities - Ty Hafan The
Children's Hospice of Wales and the Inroads Street Drugs Project
offering free information, advice, support and counselling to those
people concerned with or affected by substance misuse -
received £1,570 and £2,331 respectively, while other amounts
totalling around £5,100 were raised for various local charities
during coffee mornings which he hosted.
Cllr Hodges said: "I would like to thank everyone who attended
fundraising events throughout my year of office, and all those
people who have supported me in so many different ways."
Like his predecessors, the new Vale Mayor, Cllr A Clive
Williams, will host a series of fundraising coffee mornings and
events, and any local charities interested in being involved can
contact his personal assistant, Carole Alexander, on (01446)
709301.
