Dragon Sport group gets organised

Teachers, volunteers and club members have attended a Dragon Sport organisers' course at Wenvoe Village Hall.

Led by Vale of Glamorgan Council Dragon Sport co-ordinator Rachel McGuinness and assistant Peter Hardwick, the event features sections on adapting games to suit different abilities in a group situation and promoting ‘Chwarae Teg’ (Fair Play) aiming to generate positive attitudes and improve standards of sporting behaviour.

The course promotes a code of conduct for sports people and highlights the importance of respect, staying calm and adopting dignity, with a focus on enjoyment.

The Sports Council for Wales' Dragon Sport initiative is run in conjunction with all Welsh local authorities and focuses on eight sports - athletics, cricket, football, golf, hockey, netball, rugby and tennis.

All candidates receive a certificate to mark their attendance.
