New state-of-the-art sports hall at Cadoxton Primary School
Pupils at Cadoxton Primary School are all set for more sporting
success thanks to the school's brand new Community Sports
Hall.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council constructed the hall with the
support of a 'Big Lottery' grant of £800,000. As well as providing
a top class facility for school use during weekdays, the
state-of-the-art building is designed to benefit the wider
community through evening and weekend use by a range of local
groups and clubs.
The Sports Hall was officially opened with a ceremony that
featured a number of local dignitaries and sports stars. Vale of
Glamorgan AM Jane Hutt was joined at the launch by Barry swimming
star David Davies and Cardiff City Manager Dave Jones.
Others present included the Chairman of Governors Cllr Fred
Johnson, Headteacher Chris Myers and Tom Davies, a member of the
Big Lottery Fund Wales Committee. Representatives from local
schools and sports clubs, parents and teachers also gathered for
the building's unveiling.
Vale AM Jane Hutt highlighted the benefits of the sports hall to
the young people of Cadoxton Primary School and the surrounding
community, while Headteacher Chris Myers said: “The Sports Hall
will be of huge benefit to the community in the years ahead. At
long last there is a first class indoor facility for our children
to enjoy sport and develop their skills”.
To celebrate the official opening, Cadoxton Primary school
pupils provided a gymnastics display and a demonstration of
athletics and rugby under the guidance of Dragon Sport leaders.
