School Investment Strategy is key priority for Vale Council

School Investment Strategy is key priority for Vale Council

Further moves towards delivering a multi-million pound School Investment Strategy are set to be approved by the Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet on Wednesday (May 23).

Included in the strategy, which is regarded as an "immense challenge" for the council, is a rebuild/redevelopment of three secondary schools at Cowbridge, St Cyres and Llantwit Major.

Cabinet Member for Education and Lifelong Learning Cllr Nigel Gibbs commented: “The delivery of the strategy is one of the key priorities of the council.

"The report being considered by Cabinet is the latest stage of a great deal of work by officers and members of the council and is good news for schools in the Vale.

"A technical appraisal of the options has been completed, and Cabinet will be asked to agree the recommendation of the Director of Learning and Development to progress Cowbridge School as the first priority.

"It is important to note that the intent of the strategy is to rebuild the three secondary schools and, in this regard, the decision of the Cabinet on Wednesday should be seen as a further step towards delivery of the full strategy.

"As Cabinet Member, I am aware of the importance of this initiative and I look forward to working with all schools to convert our aspirations for the strategy into a new reality for pupils, staff and communities across the Vale."
